Ajmer Sharif Dargah

The Dargah at Ajmer is one of the holy shrines not only for the Muslims but for people of other faiths also. Every day thousands of people from various parts of the country and the world regardless of their religious affiliations, caste, colour, race, language and gender visit the Dargah to seek blessings of the great sufi saint for moral upliftment, spiritual enlightenment and progress. The visitors, apart from general public include heads of government, leaders of political parties, heads of foreign states, dignitaries from different countries, politicians, intellectuals, religious scholars, film personalities and others.

Sufism is a subjective science of purifying the heart of human beings from the evil and material attachments of the world and driving it towards the realization of the divine knowledge and existence of the Almighty Allah. It is a way of practice which resists the man-made bondages among the humans and advocates unity of human race by promoting cohesion among different communities and sects and aims to unite the individual with the Almighty. Sufism is an indigenous cult that came into being in India for the cause of arranging tryst of the individual with the Divine and establishment of peace and harmony in the world. Different schools/ orders of Sufism are in vogue in India and all these schools (though the approaches are different) ultimately strive to achieve the same objectives.
